Presenter: Yolanda Liman, Katherine Wisener, Parmida Behmardi

Date: July 21, 2011

eMentoringBC is a CIHR-funded Aboriginal health project that views education, specifically mentoring, as a health intervention. While the benefits of face-to-face mentoring have been clearly demonstrated, much less is known about how online mentoring (“eMentoring”) may afford similar or different benefits to traditional mentoring. The effectiveness of online mentoring in improving Aboriginal educational outcomes will be evaluated by implementing a year-long, culturally relevant eMentoring program across five community cases within BC.

With an anticipated launch date of Sept 2011, this presentation compares the various ways eMentoring has been developed in each community case, with an aim to generate lively discussion about success factors, challenges and unexpected opportunities when engaging in collaborative, community-based research.
