We are happy to announce that the eHealth Strategy Office recently received our first grant from the Chinese government for collaborative research with the ShenZhen institute of Advanced Technologies (SIAT).
The UBC Faculty of Medicine provided an official announcement of the grant, and described the project in more detail.
The joint project will develop a personalized health collection and management system for ongoing monitoring of health indicators. This tool will help detect early warning signs, predict the onset of common diseases and sudden illness for latent disease in high risk populations, and manage deteriorating health.
The new technology will provide a low cost, small size and practical electronic health device accessible to those living in rural and remote communities and responsive to trends in information technology and health care. Recently, people have become more aware of their own health management, want to facilitate timely access to quality information, and hope to easily self-monitor their health condition.
We are very excited about starting this important international initiative, so please stay tuned for more information on this exciting project.
