Getting to the Heart of the Matter: Cardiovascular Health forum in Kamloops, October 21

The interCultural Online Health Network (iCON) project presents a FREE public health forum in Punjabi entitled Getting to the Heart of the Matter: Cardiovascular Health. This event is produced by the eHealth Strategy Office in partnership with health and community organizations.

iCON Cardiovascular Health Forum, October 21, 2012The purpose of this forum is to help change and support the behaviors and attitudes of individuals with or at risk for cardiovascular diseases within the Punjabi community in Kamloops and across BC. A panel of experts will discuss major risk factors with a focus on diabetes and hypertension. Audience members will learn about many aspects of heart disease: prevention, signs and symptoms, diagnosis, treatments and tips for self-care.

The audience will be invited to ask the experts questions during an interactive question and answer session. Local organizations will also be available at 12:00pm to provide information on support available for community members.

To increase accessibility, the event will be webcast live from www.iconproject.org to view from home. These interactive forums are webcast live across the world allowing a wide number of people including those living in remote and rural communities and those with mobility restrictions, to access high-quality health information at any time.
