We are delighted to announce that Dr. Gulzar Cheema, Medical Director of the iCON South Asian Division, received the Excellence in Health Promotion Award at the Doctors of BC’s 15th Annual Medical Association Awards Ceremony which took place on May 31, 2014. He received this award for his outstanding and continuing work educating the Indo-Canadian population about disease prevention and promotion.
Dr. Cheema has been successfully leading the South Asian portfolio of iCON since 2008 where he has made a substantial impact by engaging communities and educating patients on critical health issues prevalent in the Indo-Canadian community. Under his leadership, iCON has reached over 7000 Punjabi speaking patients through public health forums and community workshops to help patients and families optimize best practices in chronic disease prevention and self-management.
