Peer Leader Ontario MD, Community Practice

Speciality Use:
A dermatology reference for health care professionals in family medicine and emergency room, medical and nursing students.
How I use it:
There are lots of rashes in family medicine. It provides both a picture and easily readable description of cause, distribution, testing and treatment of rashes.
Why I like it:
Can search by kind of rash as well as by name.
It is very easy to educate patients on types of rashes as it references the 40 of most common.
Ways to improve:
Provide a link to the rash you choose with more details for both physician and patient.
Positive features:
Its ease of use, accuracy, search function, and that it provides both photo and text information.
What could be better:
It is limited to 40 rashes, would like more than one picture or view.
Cost:
$2.99

SevenMinute Workout
7 Minute Workout “Seven” with High Intensity Interval Training Challenge
Review by:
Dr. Eric Cadesky MD
Family Physician, The Doctors’ Office
Vancouver, BC
What is it for:
Encouraging and rewarding physical activity.
How I use it:
Prescribe to patients who have barriers to accessing fitness.
Why I like it:
As life becomes more complicated and work more sedentary, it can be a challenge to find the time and resources to be active and reverse the increasing risk of obesity. This free app is based on a scientifically tested training regimen that requires nothing more than a wall, a floor, a chair, and as little as seven minutes a day. http://bit.ly/1lXBNmo
Positive features:
The audio counter and “trainer”. It’s free. It can be used on iPad or iPhone.
What could be better:
The illustrations are static, so people need to see the movements beforehand and use the illustrations as reminders.
Additional:
Can be part of a SMART plan to increase activity in those who travel often, have sedentary jobs, cannot access equipment, or can only spare seven minutes a day for activity.
Cost:
Free for basic program with freemium top-ups to access other workouts.
