Purpose

The Community Learning Centre Toolkit project, born from the KCLC project, seeks to build on all of the lessons learned throughout the KCLC project and lessons other CLC projects across Canada have learned too.

Overview

In order to create this Toolkit, the eHealth Strategy Office, in continued collaboration with the Ktunaxa community, is conducting research to figure out just what resources the Toolkit should include and what the preferred medium for delivery is. The Toolkit will likely have a range of guides from how to write a grant, put on a workshop, develop a website for your community, find relevant health information on the internet, and even how to build your very own CLC!

Background

A Community Learning Centre (CLC) is an innovative model of delivering healthcare and health information based firmly on the idea of community engagement. The 2006-2009 Ktunaxa Community Learning Centres (KCLC) initiative was a collaboration between the Ktunaxa Nation in South-Eastern BC and the eHealth Strategy Office that aimed to create a physical space where residents and health professionals could access health resources through the use of information and communication technologies (ICT).
