BC PAD Launches New Topic for 2012

The BC Provincial Academic Detailing (PAD) service launched a new drug topic at the end of February. The current topic “Statins and Cardiovascular Disease” will be available for academic detailing sessions until at least September 2012. The topic focuses on:

  1. Clinically important outcomes and goals of therapy with a statin
  2. Evidence for using statins for primary and secondary prevention of major coronary events and all-cause mortality
  3. Treatment strategies (drugs and doses) for statin therapy
  4. Basic principles of monitoring statin therapy and management of clinically important drug interactions

Between February and April 2012, PAD detailed 501 physicians and health care professionals on the statin topic, 16 of which were done using TEAD.

Feedback from the TEAD sessions conducted is encouraging in demonstrating how participants view receiving PAD services via TEAD:

88% of participants were Very Satisfied with level of interaction with the academic detailer during a TEAD session.

81% of participants felt that WebEx was Very Effective in presenting information.

100% of participants indicated that they would recommend TEAD to a colleague.

Overall, we are pleased with the feedback we have received from the participants and are working to increase the number of TEAD sessions during this topic.
