eHealth Summer Campers on OMNI News (in Mandarin)

In addition to the article in the Globe and Mail, the local OMNI News BC came to our summer camp last week, as well. For our readers who speak Mandarin, you can listen to some of the summer campers, Eric Zhou, Nina Sun and May Wang, talk about their experience at the eHealth Young Innovators Summer Camp (for those of us whose Mandarin is sadly lacking, Nancy Zhao kindly translated the audio – see below). Great work guys!

English translation:

“How to have a fun and inspiring summer vacation? Our reporter Quan Gu will show us an enrichment program —  eHealth Summer Camp in UBC for high school students. And  here is her story:

Dr. Kendall Ho, the director of UBC eHealth Strategy Office said the basic objective of this summer camp was to promote eHealth tools and skills, get young people interested and curious about it and explore their potentials in health technologies;  in the meantime, help high school seniors make career decisions.

This is the first launch of this program. In this one-week summer camp, campers from Grade 10 to Grade 12 learned eHealth technologies, such as telemedicine, mobile health application development, by hands-on activities: learning and doing; they also got a better understanding about how to apply these tools and skills into their daily life.

Some of the campers, Eric ZHOU, Nina SUN and May WANG, talked about their experience at the summer camp. They said this was a very good practical experience to help them consider the future career path in health industry. This program gave them an precious opportunity to explore the details of a health profession. ”
