Recruiting participants for Diabetes Self-Management Study

DAWN: Development of Online Solutions to Optimize Diabetes Self-Care is a project under the interCultural Online Health Network (iCON) that aims to evaluate and develop online resources in order to provide culturally appropriate educational materials on diabetes care for multicultural communities. This project will study how multigenerational Chinese and South Asian families use online health resources to support the care of diabetes. We are currently recruiting Chinese and South Asian families and more information about the study can be found below.

Eligibility Criteria:
–  Interested families with participants from different generations (grandparent, parent, and/or son/daughter)
–  At least one family member who is diagnosed with Type I or II Diabetes
–  Able to read and speak English and Punjabi or Able to read and speak English and Chinese
–  Are 19 years old or older

As a participant in this study, you will be asked to:
–  Attend an optional information session
–  Attend a Punjabi (or Chinese) language educational health forum on diabetes
–  Participate in two group interviews about managing diabetes and/or living with family diagnosed with diabetes

Time Commitment: Approximately 10 hours over 6 weeks
