Now in its fourth year, the Western Emergency Department Operations Conference (WEDOC) brings together physicians, nurses, administrators, and decision-makers from British Columbia and Alberta to discuss and address issues that compromise patient flow and access to care in emergency departments (EDs). As the ED does not exist in isolation, a better understanding of the wider system issues affecting ED patient flow and overcrowding is crucial. The WEDOC mandate also incorporates ED operational issues from a provincial, regional, and local perspective.
This year’s conference- Healing Health Care: A Systems Approach – is hosted in Calgary and will focus on system-level causes of emergency care crisis and recent innovations in emergency care.
